● Tap into critical thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
● Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.
GIVE YOUR CHILDREN A CHANCE TO TURN THEIR CREATIVITY INTO ART!!
Reflections is a nationwide art contest that encourages students to use their imagination and creativity reflecting each year's theme.
Reflections encourages students of all ages to:
- Unleash creative talents and be inspired
- Express themselves imaginatively in their artwork
- Experience the fun and joy of making art
- Tap into critical thinking skills to create art inspired by the annual theme
- Receive positive recognition for their original works of art.
Get ready to express yourself through song, dance, art and more!
Last year we had several students recognized at a district level for their artistic creations! Who will it be this year?
Online registration opens soon.
- Follow the Theme. This is the most heavily weighted part of the judging process!
-
Show Creativity. Encourage your child to get started doing the creative activities they already love doing! Ask them open-ended questions and have fun!
-
If they choose Visual Arts, you could try to provide your child with an interesting alternative surface to apply or display their artwork, such as thick paperboard or artboard, or even alternative surfaces to paper such as organic materials like leaves and palm fronds, construction or automotive materials like wood, metal or leather, etc. 3-D Visual Artwork is permitted in the program as well.
-
-
Aim for High Quality of Work. Remind them to present clean and careful work as they go. When they are finished, before submitting, challenge them to make it stand out for display!
-
For example, show them the visual power of matting or framing a piece. For videos or songs, encourage opening frames displaying title and artist, or closing credits, etc.
-
*Please share any or all of these tips with your child, but do not do any work for them at all. This would disqualify your child from the program.
Students may submit multiple entries, as long as they are new and submitted under different categories. Also, note the Reflections program does not receive as many entries for music, writing, videography, dance or photography.
If winning is a strong motivator for your child, encourage all types of creativity-- not just in the visual arts. The chances of winning and moving up through the district, region, or state increase significantly in these other categories.
